Just a few years ago, the Tex Mex heavens finally answered our prayers and brought us the joy that is Taco Bell breakfast. My eyes were opened to an entirely new breed of morning time eating, and I think a little part of me may have quite literally been reborn. Most importantly, if you remember some of their highlight breakfast creations, you're probably wondering if Taco Bell is selling the Naked Egg Taco once again OK, I know a taco with a fried egg on the outside might sound a little disorienting, but I swear on my weekend brunch that the Naked Egg Taco will change your damn life. The snack combines all classic breakfast foods, including eggs, bacon or sausage, seasoned potatoes, and a melted medley of cheese, into the form of their signature dish:

Taco Bell's Naked Egg Taco features a fried egg shell filled with a choice of bacon or sausage, plus crispy potatoes, nacho cheese sauce, and shredded cheese. As far as the two tacos that I bought, the fried egg shell can be hit or miss. One was overcooked and dry although it did have a bit more crispiness to it while the other was soft but fully set. The shells are made with a whole mostly unbroken egg so you do get a portion with that distinct yolk flavor. As far as cheese goes, you're mostly getting the gooey texture and flavor of nacho cheese with the odd sprinkling of mild shredded cheddar. It goes well with the potatoes, which are flavorful but never crispy from my experience. Between the bacon and sausage, I prefer the smokiness and stronger flavor of the bacon to the lightly seasoned sausage.
Photo by Taco Bell via Facebook Advertisement Though some, more puritanical eaters may clutch their pearls at the sight of it, when you break it down, the Naked Chicken Chalupa is just a fried chicken cutlet with a salad inside. The most challenging part is getting the chicken breast to hold a taco shell shape, but this challenge is in no way insurmountable. Advertisement So plump. So fresh. To begin, you need to flatten out a boneless, skinless chicken breast.
August 15, at The naked taco uses a fried egg for the shell, and is stuffed with cheese, sausage or bacon, and crispy diced potatoes. It's served with a half sleeve, so your hands won't be too greasy after scarfing one of these down, but if you're really opposed to the the naked concept, you can order it in a gordita flatbread instead. Taco Bell is unveiling the new breakfast dish with serious fanfare, offering customers in four cities the chance to reserve a table inside Taco Bell and test out the tacos early. Reservations can be made on OpenTable.
